Dr. Andrew Clift

Dr. Andrew Clift is the Critical Minerals Principal Investigator at the New York State Geological Survey – State Science Service, where he leads multiple federally funded research initiatives focused on the economic geology of critical mineral resources in New York. He also serves as Curator of the New York State Bedrock Core Collection, Drill Cuttings Collection, and the Empire State Organized Geologic Information System (ESOGIS), overseeing the preservation and expansion of the state’s most significant geoscience data archives.Â
As a licensed Professional Geologist in New York and Wyoming, and a Certified Professional Geologist through the American Institute of Professional Geologists, Dr. Clift brings deep expertise in economic geology and resource exploration. His career spans both academia and industry, having worked previously as an exploration and development geologist and consultant in the energy and mining sectors prior to his current leadership role.

Dr. Clift earned his B.A. in Geology from Syracuse University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines. He is currently an MBA candidate at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, specializing in energy and mining economics with an emphasis on integrating resource appraisal into strategic business and market analytics.
